INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED SHIPBROKERS COURSES
Professional Qualifying Examination Course (full time)
The College of Central London (CCL) and Africa Trade and Wildlife (ATW) have teamed up to provide full time courses in central London for the professional Qualifying Examinations leading to membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
Who are the courses designed for?
These full time courses are designed principally to prepare candidates for the Qualifying Examinations leading to membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (MICS).
About the courses
The courses adhere to the rules and regulations as set out by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and it is the candidates own responsibility to comply with these obligations (visit www.ics.org for details). Students must register with the Institute at:

ICS Professional Qualifying Examinations
Students must pass a total of seven subjects to enable them to apply for election to become a Member (MICS) of the Institute and eventually go on to fellowship (FICS) when the title ‘Chartered Shipbroker’ can be used

Note: (1) denotes first year, (2) second year All subjects required Shipping Business is compulsory in first year
Group 2
Dry Cargo Chartering Tanker Chartering (2) Liner Trades (2) Port Agency Logistics & Multimodal Transport Port and Terminal Management (1) Ship Sale and Purchase
Note: Exemptions may permitted from these subjects You are advised to check with the college to find out which combination of subjects is on offer.
Group 3
Shipping Law Financial and Management Accounting Marine Insurance
Note: Group 3 subjects available for specialists

Introduction to Shipping Shipping Business Port and Terminal Management Economics of Sea Transport and International Trade
The above programme provides the mandatory 15 hours of weekly study which international students require in order to obtain a UK student visa.
Note: Shipping Business MUST be taken in the first year along with two other subjects. Candidates must sit a minimum of THREE subjects at their first attempt. The remaining four subjects will be taken in the second year of study.
Course Fee Professional Qualifying Examination course: £3450 excluding examination fees
Foundation Diploma (part time)
The Foundation Diploma has been designed principally for those who are new to the industry or do not wish to take the full ICS course and qualify as a member of the Institute but wish to further their knowledge of the shipping and Maritime Industry The Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification
The Foundation Diploma:
Introduction to Shipping Port Agency No exemptions are allowed
Candidates are advised to apply directly to the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers for validation of any relevant professional or educational qualifications Entry Requirements:All candidates must be over 16 years old Entry Procedure: Candidates need to register as students of the Institute first and then complete an examination form. The registration year is from: 1 June to 31 May
Course Fee Foundation Diploma course: £1385 excluding examination fee
Assessment:
ICS sets its entry examinations for membership which candidates can sit annually-during the month of APRIL. If successful and following a 4 year aggregated period in industry, candidates can apply for membership.
